About Us


Centrally located in the center of Harare, Theatre in the Park is a multi-use function venue with views overlooking the park and the city. Located within Harare Gardens, Theatre in the Park offers a 500-seater space for all functions with ample secure parking space. Theatre in the Park is also a project that simultaneously connects performance with its roots in traditional community spaces and develops a creative project in the centre of Harare. For seventeen years, Theatre in the Park has been one of the most innovative creative venues in Southern Africa

Our Work


We have always been strongly committed to promoting and developing artistic initiatives. For the Zimbabwean public, Theatre in the Park’s commitment to socially and politically relevant theatre means that we are a kind of pulse for Harare, providing insight into current issues and attitudes, and a platform for dialogue. Theatre in the Park believes that theatre is not merely entertainment, it has the power to inspire and mobilise communities.

This says that we are a one stop store that offers various services and quality products and provide state of the arts facilities for a variety of different events. We have a national, regional and international footprint and our brands and products have produced social, political and economic impact for our publics, practitioners and partners. We have also successfully facilitated regional and international events like Women Wine and Words Festival, International Theatre Festival Harare to name just a few. In conjunction with our subsidiary recording company Native Creative, our theatre productions have reached global stage mostly in Europe.

The Programme


Through its unique mandate, Theatre in the Park became the nerve centre of Zimbabwean professional theatre. It attracts the best local actors and directors, and is highly regarded at the regional and international level. The old theatre hosted over 260 productions, involving over 2 200 actors, directors, and production staff. Countless workshops and discussions were held in conjunction with the formal performances.

Theatre in the Park has always been strongly committed to promoting and developing artistic initiatives. In the new theatre, this will be facilitated by the free rehearsal space that will be available for up and coming artists.
